It is finished.
.....Well..... almost. I reserve the right to do a few prints in this edition in brown, maybe with some added zing with the help of a few watercolor washes. For now, I'm fairly satisfied with this AP (Artist's Proof) I've pulled.
Here are a few photos of the printing for your viewing pleasure. If you have any questions about the process, leave a comment and I'll get back to you right away.
Looks good Erin,
ReplyDeleteThe only time I ever did a linocut was of a moose waaaaay back in high school.
So I'm curious... you said AP, artists proof.
If you weren't happy with it does that mean you might go back in and recut? I'm sure you can't add back (the positive shapes), or is there a way to do that?
Thanks David!
ReplyDeleteI am mulling over how to finish this piece. I'm planning on adding some color, and yes, I may go back and cut this plate a bit more.
To add positive shapes I personally would cut a second plate. That's standard practice for making multicolored prints, but you could also use one in the same color to repair a mistake.
I've read on blogs about other people using putty (like the kind you'd use to repair car dents or cracks in wood in your house) to fill in a part of the block and then re-carve, but I have never heard of an artist who does most of their work in relief printing doing this, or heard how well that kind of repair would hold up through printing.
Hope that answers your question! Thanks for looking!
